While the kitchen and basement were the main areas affected by water damage, the surrounding first-floor finishes also needed to be thoughtfully updated to bring the entire home together. Mart Design Co. focused on the details that make a home feel cohesive, including the hardwood floors, trim, crown molding, baseboards, and fireplace surround.

The existing red oak hardwood floors were refinished to restore warmth and character to the home. This helped create a seamless transition between the remodeled kitchen and the surrounding living spaces. To complement the new cabinetry selections, the baseboards and crown molding were painted in Accessible Beige, creating a soft, consistent finish throughout the home.
The fireplace became one of the most important finishing details. Mart Design Co. updated the surround with a Calacatta Macchiato Vecchia porcelain slab, giving the living area a natural stone look with a clean, elevated feel. This fireplace update added visual interest while still blending beautifully with the kitchen materials, flooring, and millwork.
Together, these finishing touches helped transform the home from repaired to truly restored. The updated fireplace, refinished hardwood floors, and refreshed millwork created a cohesive first-floor design that feels warm, polished, and intentionally connected.
