Kitchen Design Story
This Lemont, IL family envisioned a kitchen designed around the way their family lives every day, a space that could comfortably accommodate a large, active household while serving as the heart of the home for gathering and entertaining. They wanted materials that would stand up to constant daily use without sacrificing elegance, pairing exceptional durability with a timeless aesthetic. Every custom detail, from the thoughtfully crafted stonework to the furniture-inspired dining table and oversized island, was selected to create a warm and inviting space.
Taj Mahal quartzite in a brushed finish was selected for its remarkable durability and ability to conceal everyday wear without sacrificing elegance.
One of the home’s defining features is the oversized full-height quartzite backsplash. Because of its scale, the stone had to be installed before the surrounding custom millwork which required a carefully coordinated installation sequence that ensured the slab could be positioned without compromise. The cabinetry was then expertly crafted around the stone, creating a seamless architectural focal point.
Soft full bullnose edges were carried throughout the kitchen, from the countertops to the custom backsplash ledge and the bespoke round dining table. The matching custom fluted millwork table extends the design beyond the island, creating an inviting space where family meals naturally become lasting memories. The finished kitchen balances timeless natural materials, custom craftsmanship, and everyday functionality.

- Full bullnose edge profile throughout the kitchen and dining area softens corners for improved safety and adds a timeless, furniture-inspired appearance to reinforce the organic character of the Taj Mahal quartzite.
